Biblical literalism is the method of interpreting scripture that says that, except in places where the text is obviously allegorical, poetic, or figurative, it should be taken literally. The confusion that would result from interpreting the scriputre figuratively would essentially render the Bible null and void. This is what many have done. The Bible is God's word to us and He meant it to be believed, literally and completely.
